Louisiana Expeditors delivered to repeat customer, Russell Construction, of Conroe, Texas the building permit and fire marshal permit for the new Baskins Western and Work Wear that they are building on Northshore Boulevard in Slidell, Louisiana. The project was fast tracked, so the initial permit process needed to be closely monitored. During the build-out, the Texas project manager flagged some ambiguities in scope. To make certain all compliance was being met, LAEX suggested and attended an initial walk-through with the St. Tammany Fire Department. All issues were discussed and compliance was met.
Congratulations to Mayor Landrieu and the City Hall departments for launching "One Stop Shop."
On March 19, 2013, Louisiana Expeditors attended the the "One Stop Shop" press event. Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the City of New Orleans officially unveiled the One Stop Shop to improve and streamline the customer experience related to securing permits and licenses. The official launch comes three weeks after the physical co-location of four departments and the introduction of a new system to receive, review and process applications. The City also launched One Stop Online, which allows applicants to submit applications, download related documents, and query the status of their application electronically; and improves access to accurate zoning and conditional use maps.
This is fantastic news for Louisiana Expeditors and the general public.

As a New Orleanian, I feel like New Orleans won the SuperBowl this year. We certainly hosted a fantastic party. Congrats to the Ravens too, of course. Prior to the big event, Louisiana Expeditors was hired to expedite permits for Murphy Productions, who put on the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, a private Justin Timberlake concert, a Pitbull concert, the Ravens after-party, and a week's worth of studio production for NBC Sports, the Nick & Artie Show and the Dan Patrick Show. This was no small feat. Congratualtions are definately in order to the Murphy Productions team. With their help, Louisiana Expeditors secured every imaginable "Clean Zone," city and state permit for this massive show to go on.
Recently Louisiana Expeditors accomplished sign-off on a Board of Zoning Adjustments Variance in early December. (George was on TV!) We have also been hired to help shepard a major special event project for the upcoming New Orleans SuperBowl. This project is underway and once complete, Louisiana Expeditors will have worked with three or four times as many agencies as in any regular construction project. Some folks would look at this as a major pain in the you-know-what, but Louisiana Exdpeditors is happy to have the opportunity and excited for the experience. Details to follow.
During the autumn months of 2012, Louisiana Expeditors stayed quietly busy on a number of small local projects. We had a few conventional projects. We were also fortunate to take on a couple of tasks that were out-of-the-ordinary for us. We were sucessful and we learned some new processes that will be both beneficial for us and our clients.
The conventional work included acquiring building permits for improvements at a single family residence in Faubourg Marigny, closing out a similar project in the Riverbend and securing a HDLC approval on a balcony in the Lower Garden District. We coordinated the documents and maintained status updates/ tracking on a Plan Review project for a Orthopedics Clinic in East Jefferson Parish.
The unconventional work consisted of seeking an "over-the-counter" commercial permit for work in a downtown restaurant. This is not the easiest of tasks; certainly the applicant must speak the language to be successful. Louisiana Expeditors speaks the language and sketched out details on the spot and walked out of City Hall with permit in hand. Any courier service or permit "runner" would have walked out empty handed.
Louisiana Expeditors also worked with Jefferson Parish Code Enforcement to secure two commercial "over-the-counter" permits in Metairie regarding Isaac damaged facades of separate commercial buildings on Vets and on David Drive.
Other new items for us included a Zoning Board Variance Application for a developer in Gentilly and a Special Event Permit Application. Louisiana Expeditors is appreciative of the helpful staff at these bureaus.
Louisiana Expeditors works closely with a specific New Orleans General Contractor who has undertaken many service calls and small Hurricane Isaac related repairs in these first few weeks of September. It is frustrating for a contractor who is trying to be helpful and nimble to be sitting in a waiting room at the Yenni Building or New Orleans City Hall. We have been able to assist and are available to take on more projects or hurricane repairs RIGHT NOW. Call us for a price.
Louisiana Expeditors swiftly secured a renovation permit for a home owner in the Riverbend working with New Orleans Safety & Permits as they put in place their new systems for building permit applications. Call us today to find out how you can avoid the trip to City Hall.
This week New Orleans City Business published a story on the gaining traction of permit expeditors in the New Orleans market. We were honored that they called us to discuss this exciting new market. The story by Jennifer Larino (which we will archive on this website soon) demonstrated a myriad of opinions about the expediting industry here in New Orleans and perhaps even what to expect from our allies in municipal governments. It also featured an opinion of a local contractor who admitted that outsourcing his permit acquistion time is absolutely beneficial. If you are a local contractor or designer: call us today, to find out how we can turn the permit process into a profit center for your business.
May and June have brought us a number of issues for different clients having to do with VCC compliance in the French Quarter. We look at this work as not only an opportunity to help folks here in New Orleans, but also as enthusiastic participation in historic preservations.
Let Louisiana Expeditors help you with VCC permits. We have the expertise and time to tackle any Quarter permit, freeing you up to keep your focus where it belongs: On Your Project.
Louisiana Expeditors completed a project in April for Crocs at the very well-appointed Mall of Louisiana. The work consisted of obtaining and delivering an East Baton Rouge Parish Building General Work Permit, the State Fire Marshal P.O. Letter, and the St. George Fire District Approval Letter.
